Because of many problems with our Android-engine, we have decided to re-develop the Gobudgie-Android core. Currently it’s based on Shashlik which is using QEMU. Now, we will use Anbox, which directly runs Android on the same kernel. This results much better performance and less of crashs. We hope that you’ll enjoy our next release.
Release time: Gobudgie rolling 18.02.08 snapshot has been released. The major fix is VirtualBox. Now you are able to test Gobudgie in a VM with an internet connection. Anyway, many other ethernet and some Broadcom WiFi cards are now working too. “live”‘s password is “live”. Please give us feedback!
Release time: We’ve released another snapshot of Gobudgie. The major changes are the support of some more drivers, updated legacy boot method and the iso build method. Now you can create a bootable usb using dd, because we use iso-hybrid-images.
Because of some legal problems we decided to rename our project. Gobuntu is now called Gobudgie. The name Gobudgie is a compound word of Google and Budgie. Some of our developers find that Go stands for another step in the future. We are not shore yet.
Important bug fixed: the Broadcom 43xx WiFi chip works now in the current live system. The BC 43xx chip is used in nearly all apple devices. This was the last driver for the full compatibility for MacBooks. All the Apple devices now work with Gobudgie.
